The good old vending machine has not changed a great deal in its format for many decades.  Now it’s the subject of attack from irate parents who don’t want schools selling fattening junk food or schools being held to Coke or Pepsi for the placement fees they generate; or from the UK’s House of Lords banning cigarette vending machines.

However, one person’s loss is another person’s gain.  Here are a series of pictures, from the fantastic to the frivolous, which show how smart retailers are finding space in high traffic areas for specialty products: everything from electronics to live fishing bait!
